Metallica Gifts Texas High School Band $15,000 Worth of Equipment for Tribute Performance

A Texas high school band won $15,000 worth of equipment thanks to the generosity of legendary rock band Metallica.

Vaughn High School in Kendall County is one of the winners of the group’s world-renowned Who’s the Band for Talls contest, which challenges schools across the country to perform to Metallica songs.

The group is donating about $200,000 in equipment to winners in several categories.bernet tied According to the KSAT report, the study was conducted in collaboration with a school in Malvern, New York, as it “achieved the best results for a medium-sized high school.”

Boerne’s teenage musicians performed some of Metallica’s most famous songs, including “For Whom the Bell Tolls,” “Enter Sandman,” “Fade to Black,” and “Seek and Destroy,” for which the contest is named. I submitted a 4-minute medley of some of my best songs. ” and “Master of Puppets.”

“The prize money was used to purchase a completely new bass line to replace the one that had been in use since 2010. We also purchased several new instruments. We have our instruments ready,” said Daniel Persson, Boerne orchestra director. “We also purchased musical instruments to ensure that students in financial need have access to high-quality instruments through their schools.”

A complete list of winners obtained by KSAT shows the awards were presented to high schools and colleges across the country.

College – Division 1: Auburn University – $75,000 in prize money.

College – Division 2, 3: Eastern New Mexico University – $40,000 in prize money.

High School – Elementary: Oakton High School (Vienna, VA) – $15,000 in prizes.

High School – Medium: Tie – Bern High School, Malvern High School (Malvern, NY) – $15,000 Prize

High School – Large: Dobbins Bennett High School (Kingsport, TN) – $15,000 in prize money.

Fan Favorite College – Auburn University – $10,000 Prize

Fan Favorite High School – Dobbins Bennett High School – $10,000 Prize
