Kamala Harris, Who Helped Put Pro-life Filmmaker in Jail, Warns Trump Will ‘Jail Journalists’

Vice President Kamala Harris warned during her acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, Illinois on Thursday that former President Donald Trump would “put journalists in jail” – after he himself did just that in California.

As California attorney general, Harris launched an investigation after pro-life filmmaker David Daleiden made a series of undercover videos in 2015 that exposed Planned Parenthood’s trafficking in aborted fetal tissue.

As Politico attention 2016:

On Tuesday night, investigators in California Searched The search was conducted at the home of David Daleiden, who last summer released a series of videos showing Planned Parenthood officials discussing fees for fetal tissue and organs. The search came after Governor Harris announced last summer that she would investigate Daleiden for possible violations of the law.

Daleiden was then sued by Harris’ successor, Xavier Becerra, in 2017. Breitbart News reported:

The undercover citizen journalists were charged with 15 felony counts, 14 counts of illegally recording secret conversations, and one count of conspiracy, making them the first undercover journalists in California history to be criminally charged.

Planned Parenthood sued Daleiden and his organization, the Center for Medical Progress, for more than $2 million in damages and won, but a criminal case against Daleiden for his accurate undercover reporting remains pending.

Harris said Her party on Thursday:

WHAT DO YOU THINK? [Trump] What will he do if we give him power again? Consider his clear intention to unleash violent extremists. [sic] He is the perpetrator who attacked police officers at the Capitol.

His clear intention to jail journalists [sic]political opponents [sic] and anyone he considers an enemy. His clear intention to send active duty troops against his own people. [sic].

Harris’ statement was filled with other false claims, including that Trump has never “explicitly” promised to release violent criminals. Intended Pardon those arrested on January 6th Case by case; the implication is that he would pardon nonviolent criminals, but not those who attack police.

Trump has never expressed a “clear intent” to jail journalists, and has discussed prosecuting political opponents for crimes, not for political reasons. (Ironically, it is the Biden-Harris administration that is trying to jail Trump for what many consider to be unfounded charges.)

While President Trump has never expressed a “clear intent” to send in the military against “the people,” he said he would consider invoking the Insurrection Act against rioters, which is legal and has been done by previous presidents.

Trump did none of these things during his four years in the White House, but Harris did.

“It’s a big deal,” Daleiden said sarcastically Thursday.

Harris also abused her power to go after political opponents and tried to force conservative nonprofits to disclose their donors to the state, an effort continued by her successor, California’s attorney general. Struck Down In 2021, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled 6-3.
