First appearance on Fox: A Democratic incumbent in the House of Representatives in New Mexico's 2nd Congressional District, one of the closest races in the country, allegedly “killed” a classmate during an argument while in college, according to records obtained by and obtained by police. Congressman Gabe Vasquez said that while he was a student at New Mexico State University, another student alleged that Vasquez used his phone to “fear, intimidate, intimidate, and harass” him and that he threatened to “kill him.” It was the subject of a police report filed. ” and “bury” him.

The victim claimed in a police report that Vazquez threatened the lives of those involved and also used “several bad words in Spanish.”

Fox News Digital reached out to the person who filed the complaint against Vazquez, who declined to discuss the complaint and said they had “reconciled” and “moved on with their lives.”
Vazquez's campaign manager, Dylan MacArthur, said in a statement to Fox News Digital that “Yvette Herrell is trying to distract people by exploiting the death of a close college friend nearly 20 years ago. It's sad to see someone stoop so low to lie about the character of a member of Congress.” Because of her horrifying past, she wants to ban all abortions in the state. ”
Interactions with police weren't the only problem Vazquez had with law enforcement.
The previous year, Vasquez was accused by police of using the “n-word” in a phone call to a former employer in New Mexico, where they reportedly had a controversial exchange. The Washington Free Beacon reported.
In a statement to the Daily Mail, Vazquez denied being the person who made the call, saying: “I have never used these words and never will. It's false.''

Police records, first reported by the Washington Free Beacon, also show that Vasquez was arrested by the Las Cruces Police Department in 2005 after a neighbor reported a noise complaint. Vazquez allegedly tried to flush marijuana down the toilet before he was arrested.
Vazquez was also involved in a domestic dispute in Las Cruces, where he got into an argument with his girlfriend over drinking too much, which led police to his home “as a possible domestic dispute.” Vazquez was not arrested because the incident did not involve physical violence.
Vasquez also reportedly failed to appear in court in El Paso, Texas, for driving without insurance in 2002, and a warrant was issued for his arrest in April 2008. That warrant was finally executed in March of this year, resulting in Vasquez posting a cash bond of about $900 and pleading no contest. The Washington Free Beacon reported.
Vazquez is running against former New Mexico Congresswoman Yvette Herrell in a race that the Cook Political Report ranks as a “strong Democratic candidate.”
“Threats to kill and bury someone should not be glossed over,” Herrell told FOX News Digital in a statement. “This was extremely dangerous and unrestrained behavior by Gabe Vasquez, and he owes New Mexico's 2nd Congressional District an immediate explanation and apology.”
The congressman has advocated for policies that would cut funding for police departments, following conflicts between Mr. Vazquez and police departments in New Mexico and Texas.
Vasquez Appeared on local news station Apparently disguised during the 2020 George Floyd riots, he said, “This is not just about defunding the police, it's about defunding the systems that privilege white people over everyone else.'' That means we will.”

Vazquez previously vowed to “fully support” cutting the police budget in half in Las Cruces, where he served on the City Council. FOX News Digital first reported.
“I wholeheartedly and absolutely support police reform and the #blacklivesmatter movement, and I won't miss out on transformative reforms that bring justice to people of color in our city and our communities. Thank you for your support. Stay tuned,” Vazquez said in a letter to one group. Voters are demanding that the Las Cruces Police Department's budget be cut by “at least” 50%.
“I oppose defunding the police,” Vazquez said in a statement to Fox News Digital in 2022. “As a Las Cruces City Council member, I support common sense reforms while increasing funding for the police. “We have repeatedly voted for the law and cooperated with the police.”
“Gabe Vasquez has a long history of extreme abuse,” NRCC spokesperson Delaney Bomer told Fox News Digital. “From calling a former colleague the 'n-word' to what he has now done, it is clear that Gabe is unfit for public office and does not represent New Mexico's values.”
