Nearly two-thirds of American Jews agree that former President Donald Trump is on Israel's side, despite the fact that 62% of American Jews do not agree, according to a new poll. It has become clear that he intends to vote for Vice President Kamala Harris.
of public opinion pollwas conducted as part of a larger survey of American adults over a period of about six weeks, and found that American Jews' loyalty to the Democratic Party is an issue of particular concern to the Jewish community. It seems that no matter what, it doesn't waver.
According to the Forward, Harris is “at war” with the Jewish community and that her 62% approval rating is “higher than President Joe Biden's approval rating in 2020 (77% or 68%, depending on which exit poll you believe). It will be significantly lower.” Hillary Rodham Clinton's Jewish approval rating in 2016 (about 70%, according to two exit polls). ” Trump would receive 31% of the Jewish vote, consistent with other independent, nonpartisan polls of Jewish voters.
Mr. Trump therefore stands to win the largest share of the Jewish vote of any Republican candidate since President Ronald Reagan in 1980.
This year, even small shifts by Jewish voters could make a difference in battleground states like Pennsylvania. Josh Shapiro, the state's Jewish governor, was dropped as Harris' running mate, largely to appease anti-Israel Democrats.
But Trump will still lose the Jewish vote by a huge margin, which is very frustrating.
The reason may lie in the content of the poll. Sixty-five percent of Jewish adults agreed that Trump “supports Israelis,” compared to 34% for Harris. (And 25% said Harris “supports the Palestinians,” compared to 14% who said the same about Trump.)
Other polls suggest that Israel is not a priority for many American Jews, many of whom are secular or unaffiliated with community organizations. Issues cited by Democrats, such as “democracy” and abortion, tend to rank high among Jewish voters.
The magazine states: Ari Fleischer, former press secretary for former President George W. , even if they think Trump is stronger on Israel, they are of course more likely to express support for Harris.”
Anecdotally, some Jewish voters who might have chosen Trump over Biden after a year of war in Israel and unrest on college campuses remained with the party when Harris became the nominee. I was persuaded to do so.
Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff, who is Jewish, is also participating in the appeal. He received a heroic welcome from Jews at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, where his personal weaknesses – including impregnating the family's nanny in his first marriage – were not mentioned. I couldn't.
Emhoff is typical of many American Jews. Mostly independent and uninvolved (until recently), it is driven by concerns about anti-Semitism, but fundamentally defined by other Jewish connections, including the Democratic Party.
The second-generation gentleman is unapologetic about his approach: “We're still going to talk about brisket,” he says, referring to the cuisine and culture of Eastern European (Ashkenazi) Jews, which helps him integrate into the community. He said this is one of the main methods. — Not a religion, not support for Israel.
