As the political left reflects on the 2024 election results, Rep. Ritchie Torres (N.Y.) says that “maligning voters of color as white supremacists” will push them further toward President-elect Trump. I warned you that it's just that.
“Popular explanations for the election results seem to include white supremacy, patriarchy, misogyny, etc.,” Torres said in a post on X.
“Let me state the obvious here: Smearing voters of color as white supremacists will not bring them back to the Democratic Party. It will only drive them further into the Trump camp. Politics The purpose is not to repel, but to attract. Condescension is the most powerful counterattacker in politics. Voters instinctively resent condescension and will punish it at the polls,” he added.

Trump defeated Vice President Kamala Harris on Tuesday to win the 2024 White House race.
Torres suggested that signs of impending flooding were clear.
“The signs of decisive defeat were staring us in the face all along. We simply denied them or deliberately turned a blind eye to them, replacing real analysis with magical thinking.” he declared in a tweet.

“In recent history, there is no precedent for an incumbent party to win a presidential election when 20% of Americans believe the country is on the right track or heading in the right direction. “The structural challenges were completely insurmountable.” Added.
Torres, who has served in the House since 2021 and won re-election in 2024, blamed the “far left” for driving people away from the Democratic Party.
“Donald Trump has no greater friend than the far left, which has targeted historic numbers of Latinos, blacks, and “Latinos,” the congressman opined in a post about X.

“The working class has more to lose than gain politically by pandering to the far left, which represents Twitter, Twitch, and TikTok more than the real world. “I don't believe in nonsense like 'the far left is selling,'” he added.

He also suggested that political parties should not push the idea that they are suffering from a “messaging problem”.
“We should erase the words we have a 'messaging problem' from our vocabulary,” Torres wrote in X. “When over 70% of Americans think we're on the wrong path or heading in the wrong direction, that's not messaging.” That's a real problem.
“Inflation and immigration are not 'messaging issues.' These realities created the kind of widespread discontent that brought Donald Trump to office, and we need to understand the real-world messages these realities send. and are ignoring it at their own peril,” he warned.
