Feds open criminal probe into NYC migrant shelters — demanding staff turns over names of ‘aliens’ housed at hotels

The federal government has launched a criminal investigation into immigrant hotels in New York City. On Wednesday, staff requested that the names of “aliens” held in the shelter be handed over.

At least two hotels in New York City — the Roosevelt Hotel Immigration Welcome Center and the Midtown Hotel Chandler — have been attacked with a subpoena for the Southern District of New York, sources said.

A copy of the subpoena provided at Hotel Chandler and reviewed by the post requires testimony and evidence regarding alleged violations of federal immigration law.

The subpoena calls for evidence regarding an unspecified “violation” of federal immigration law.

Federal Demand also requested names of the entities and individuals responsible for funding and managing the funding and management of immigrants or immigrant shelter operations at hotels, as well as all names of contracts and funding.

The full scope of the investigation remained unknown.

Officials at the Manhattan U.S. Lawyers' Office, where prosecutors issued the subpoena, introduced the position to the main department of the Justice Department, who said they had not commented on the ongoing investigation.

City Hall did not immediately respond for comment. It was unclear whether Big Apple officials were also summoned.

When the Post asked for comment, no one responded at the Roosevelt Hotel.

Representatives of Chandler, who had been converted to a homeless shelter, could not be contacted for comment.

Guardian First reported A summon issued to the unknown Manhattan hotel.
