Discussion on Potential Trump-Brokered Nuclear Deal with Iran
On Wednesday, Brithume appeared on Fox News to talk about a possible nuclear agreement mediated by Trump, emphasizing one critical condition.
Qatar’s Prime Minister, Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman bin Jasim al Thani, stated during a “special report with Bret Baier” that regional leaders aspire to a nuclear-free Middle East, believing that diplomacy is the way forward. However, Hume expressed skepticism about the Prime Minister’s assertion and suggested exercising caution.
“If that’s the case, that’s good, but can we actually verify this? Do we know they aren’t enriching uranium?” Hume questioned.
He told host Brett Baier that without a trustworthy and transparent verification process, any diplomatic progress would likely be at risk.
“I think we’ve gathered more information about this deal and whether the president is willing to pursue it,” Hume remarked.
During a dinner with the Qatari Emir, President Donald Trump reportedly urged countries to pressure Iran to rein in its nuclear ambitions. This appeal was made while he was touring Gulf nations to promote regional cooperation.
Trump informed Gulf leaders in Riyadh that he would be open to deals with Iran, but only if Tehran ceased supporting a Middle Eastern proxy group. He also recalled that his administration had abandoned the 2015 nuclear agreement brokered by former President Obama.
Advisors close to Iran’s leaders indicated that Tehran would be open to signing a nuclear deal with Trump, provided certain conditions and the lifting of sanctions were in place. Ali Shamkhani’s comments marked a significant endorsement from the Iranian regime regarding ongoing negotiations.
Shamkhani mentioned that Iran would dismantle its weapons-grade uranium program, limit enrichment to civilian levels, and allow for international inspections, given that the US promptly lifts all economic sanctions. He asserted that under these circumstances, Iran would agree to the deal, marking a notable signal from the Supreme Leader’s inner circle.
