Gavin Newsom Crumbles After President Trump Approves If Tom Homan Takes Him Into Custody

Newsom and Trump’s Tense Exchange

Governor Gavin Newsom (D-CA) seems more focused on social media battles than addressing the issues facing his state.

This past Monday, President Trump commented on the situation involving Tom Homan, the White House’s executive associate director for border security. Homan suggested that if Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass breaks federal law, he would have to arrest Newsom. Homan mentioned that if certain legal limits are exceeded, they could cross into unlawful territory.

“You’re going to cross that line,” Homan stated in an interview over the weekend.

Interestingly, Homan’s words have been misrepresented by the media, according to him.

On Sunday night, while protests featuring Mexican flags unfolded in Los Angeles, Newsom responded to Homan’s remarks, framing them as aggressive. He quipped, “Come after me and arrest me. Let’s try again with the tough guy,” as reported by NBC News. “So, Tom, arrest me. Let’s go.”

On Monday, when asked whether Homan should take action against Newsom, Trump commented with a mix of humor and sarcasm. “If I were Tom, I would do it. I think it’s great,” Trump said, adding that Newsom might enjoy the attention, but acknowledged it would be beneficial for the situation.

Then, shifting gears, Trump said, “He did a terrible job. Look, I like Gavin Newsom, he’s a good guy, but he’s grossly incompetent. Everyone knows.” He also referenced California’s flawed high-speed rail initiative, further criticizing Newsom’s leadership.

In a rather dramatic response, Newsom took to social media, expressing that it was distressing to see a president calling for the arrest of a sitting governor. “This is something I never wanted to witness in America,” he claimed. “Regardless of party affiliation, this is a line we can’t cross as a nation. It feels like we are stepping toward authoritarianism.”

Many seem to think Newsom is missing the bigger picture. Instead of focusing on the welfare of his constituents, he appears more concerned with maintaining his public image. It seems California is living with the consequences of its electoral choices.
