The College Football Playoff national championship game is scheduled to begin Monday night in Atlanta, and the city and state have increased security measures to ensure the safety of everyone at Mercedes-Benz Stadium and the surrounding area.
Among those with boots on the ground were agents from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, who posted a photo of the two agents on X.
“GBI agents are in Atlanta today ensuring everyone's safety during the CFP National Championship game,” the post reads. “If you see us, please say hello! Stay warm and safe in the weather!”

The weather in Atlanta is cold, with an expected low of 17 degrees Monday night. And the GBI agent is bundled up from head to toe, reflecting how cold it is.
Gov. Brian P. Kemp issued a state of emergency “to ensure adequate resource deployment” due to the subfreezing temperatures.

Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens and Atlanta Police Chief Darin Schielbaum emphasized increased security for the title game, which will be held at Mercedes-Benz Stadium for the second time since the season opened.
While the city has experienced such events before, the tragedy that occurred early on New Year's Day on New Orleans' historic Bourbon Street prompted extra staffing and precautionary measures before the Ohio State and Notre Dame openings. The terrorist attack in New Orleans occurred hours before the Sugar Bowl and was postponed until the next day.
“Everyone in the Atlanta Police Department will be reporting to work,” Chief Scheerbaum said. Per local 11 Alive.
Chief Scheerbaum confirmed that there will be a multi-specialty unit and police presence in and around the stadium. Specialist units from the Atlanta Fire Department will also be stationed throughout the city to quickly respond to situations.

It was a busy day for Atlanta as the Martin Luther King Jr. Parade honoring the civil rights leader on the federal holiday was held early Monday morning. Increased safety measures were also required, including road closures that would eventually transition into a college football extravaganza.
