SpaceX President Donates to Trump Account
On July 10, 2026, President Donald Trump expressed his appreciation to Gwynne Shotwell, President of SpaceX, for a significant donation she and her husband, Robert Shotwell, made to the Trump account.
Shotwell announced that they were “honored and excited” to contribute a part of their SpaceX stock, valued at $325 million, to over 2 million American children who have accounts linked to Trump.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump thanked the Shotwells, emphasizing how their generous gift would help children pursue the “American dream.” He noted that thousands of children would benefit from this contribution.
Trump wrote, “Thank you to the wonderful and respected Gwynne Shotwell and her husband, Robert, for their utmost generosity in helping our children achieve the great American dream of all time. Their gift of $325 million worth of SpaceX stock is greatly appreciated by all.”
Gwynne Shotwell, who has been a prominent figure at SpaceX, joins a list of corporate leaders who have supported similar initiatives.
In a tweet, she expressed her enthusiasm for participating in the Invest America program and sharing a portion of SpaceX stock with the Trump account, benefitting American children.
Other notable donations include $6.25 billion pledged by Michael and Susan Dell and $250 million from Micron Technology. Additionally, companies like BlackRock, Intel, and JPMorgan Chase have committed to matching employee contributions to these child accounts.
This donation from Shotwell comes on the heels of Trump’s comments about hoping for Musk’s support in donating SpaceX stock to the initiative.
The Trump account, established last year, provides a $1,000 Treasury seed to every child born in the U.S. between January 1, 2025, and December 31, 2028. While minors, parents manage these accounts and can contribute up to $5,000 annually, which will turn into a traditional retirement IRA when the child reaches 18.
