Trump and Rubio indicate the conclusion of Operation Epic Fury with the agreement on Iran.

Trump Proposes Ending Operation Epic Fury for Iran Deal

President Donald Trump stated that Operation Epic Fury would come to an end if Iran agrees to the proposed deal. This mirrors comments made by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, indicating that the operation has concluded.

“If Iran accepts the terms we’ve laid out—though that might be unlikely—the already notable Epic Fury will cease, allowing a blockade-free Strait of Hormuz for everyone, including Iran,” Trump shared on Truth Social.

This announcement followed Rubio’s press conference, where he indicated that the U.S. has transitioned to a different phase of the conflict.

“As the President notified Congress, Operation Epic Fury has completed its course. We will now embark on Project Freedom,” Rubio stated, referencing efforts to diminish Iran’s military strength.

He further noted, “Operation Epic Fury is finished. We’ve met our operational goals,” adding that Trump aimed for a peace agreement.

A tenuous ceasefire between the U.S. and Iran has been in effect since early April, although negotiations are ongoing to reach a lasting resolution. The administration has underscored that military readiness remains, allowing for the possibility of resuming significant combat operations if discussions fail.

On Monday, U.S. Central Command initiated Project Freedom to secure safe passage for commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz.

Secretary of the Army Pete Hegseth and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Dan Kaine held a joint press conference to provide further insights on the project, which Rubio also discussed.

However, later that evening, just hours after Rubio’s statements, Trump declared on Truth Social that Project Freedom would be temporarily suspended while the U.S. works towards a final deal with Iran. He suggested that “significant progress” has already been made.

“Due to requests from Pakistan and other nations, along with the substantial military achievements during operations against Iran, and considering the meaningful progress toward a comprehensive agreement with Iranian representatives, we’ve mutually agreed to pause Project Freedom temporarily while maintaining the blockade, to evaluate the viability of an agreement,” Trump explained.

That’s where things stand. It’s quite a complex situation, isn’t it? The balance between military readiness and diplomatic efforts feels so delicate. It’ll be interesting to see how this unfolds in the coming days.
