Authorities report that a suspect is in custody following a shooting incident near a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in Aurora, Colorado, which left a woman injured. The shooting took place Thursday evening, according to a police spokesperson, and thankfully, the woman’s injuries are not life-threatening.
Andrea Loya, the executive director of Casa de Paz—a local nonprofit assisting individuals released from ICE detention—emphasized the need for safety. This incident, notably, occurred after protests outside the facility had concluded for the week.
Loya mentioned hearing screams from a staff member who was on the phone with supporters when the shooting was reported around 7:40 p.m. local time. As for the suspect, he is being described as a “possible suspect” by the Aurora police.
The shooting location was identified to be in the vicinity of the 3100 block of Nome Street. Meanwhile, the FBI is also probing another recent shooting that occurred at an ICE center in Arizona, where multiple shots were fired into the building.
There have been no reported injuries nor arrests connected to the Arizona shooting as of the latest updates.
