Kseniia Petrova is currently being held at the US Immigration Customs Facilities facility in Louisiana after returning from a private trip to France on February 16th and being detained at Boston Logan Airport.

Her research visa was revoked because she did not properly declare the frog embryo she brought back to the country. According to Harvard Crimson.

Petrova, arrested in Russia in 2022 for opposing the Ukrainian War, reported that he was sent back to his home country and was given the option to be banned from re-entering the US for five years or from returning to France to apply for a new visa.

She chose France, but instead the agency took her into custody, according to a petition filed by her lawyer, Gregory Romanovsky, when she told CBP officers she feared persecution in her home country.
