Mob of 50 teens on bicycles easily ransacks 7-Eleven in LA and escapes cops — the latest episode in apparent criminal trend

A group of about 50 teenagers on bicycles robbed and killed a 7-Eleven in Los Angeles last weekend, evading police in the latest in a clear crime trend in the area.

The Los Angeles Police Department KTLA Television Just before 7:30 p.m. on Friday, about 50 young children rode bicycles to the convenience store in the 8500 block of West Olympic Boulevard in the Beverly Hills neighborhood, stole items and then fled on their bikes before police arrived, police said.

In August, a mob of about 20 people on bicycles carried out three robberies in 20 minutes at Hollywood 7-Elevens, all within a two-mile radius.

According to the station's reporter, the footage shows teenagers, mostly wearing hoodies and dark clothing, jumping off their bikes in the 7-Eleven parking lot, breaking into the store and “stealing food, lottery tickets and anything else they can get their hands on, stuffing merchandise into shirts, sweatshirts and pockets.”

According to a video report from KTLA, the act took place within minutes, and was posted on Instagram by Beverly Hills Street People Posted video “Some of the boys were seen covering their faces with hoodies or masks as they went in and out of the store and some were seen laughing as they returned to their bikes with the stolen items.”

KTLA said it's unclear how much merchandise was stolen or the value of the damage.

According to KTTV TelevisionFriday's incident “appears to be the latest in an outbreak.”

In August, a mob of about 20 people on bikes carried out three robberies at 7-Elevens in Hollywood within a 20-minute period, all within a two-mile radius. Ironically, the crimes occurred on the same day that California's Democratic governor, Gavin Newsom, signed a bill designed to combat such crimes. KNBC television reported..

The department also released surveillance video of a similar robbery that happened at another area 7-Eleven last week.

And in early August, a group of about 30 young men on bicycles were caught on video brutally beating and robbing a man in downtown Los Angeles, leaving the victim with a broken leg that required surgery, as well as deep cuts all over his body from being kicked and punched while he was on the ground.
